Setting up a MikroTik router is fairly straightforward when using the Minim App. The instructions below will mirror the actions you will take in the app.
What you will need
- MikroTik router
- Modem or incoming internet connection
- Ethernet cable
- Mobile phone - iPhone or Android
Create a Minim account
To begin, download the Minim App. Download links to the app can be found here or you can ask your service provider for mobile user access.
Once downloaded, launch the app. First, you will be taken to the sign in page. Tap on the Create Account button. The page will redirect to the Create my account page. Enter the email address you would like to associate with the account and a password.
Please note, signing in with an existing account will not allow you to set up the new MikroTik router. You will need to sign-in with a new account that has not been associated with a router before.
Add the router to the account
Now that your account has been set up, let's add the router to your account. You will see the below page. Tap the Get started button to begin.
First tap on the red Set up a new router button. Next, tap on the red NO button.
The next screen will provide a diagram of how to set your new MikroTik router in relation to your incoming internet connection, possibly via a modem. After following the directions on the screen, tap the Next button.
You will, next, be asked to connect to the SSID being broadcasted by your new router. Once you are connected to its WiFi, tap the I'm already connected button.
Congratulations! You've successfully set up your new MikroTik router. The next page will display a loading bar as Minim scans your network. Once the scan has finished, you will be provided with the following page. Tap the Continue button.
You have finished the setup process! The screen will now display the Network page of the Minim app. To learn more about the features found in the app and how to use it, please review this guide containing videos.
