GL.iNets can be meshed together to extend the coverage in a subscriber's home. The Minim App makes it an easy process. In order to set up extenders, you will first need to have a GL.iNet configured as your main router. To learn how to configure a GL.iNet as your main gateway using the Minim App, please review this guide.
What You Will Need
- GL.iNet B1300 (ZM.1) configured as the main router
- GL.iNet B1300 (ZM.1) to be used as the access point
- Ethernet cable (optional)
- Mobile phone
- Minim App
Getting started
To begin, launch the Minim App. If you previously set up your main router using the app, you will already be logged in. If you do have an account to access the app, you can either contact your service provider who can initiate the process or you can create one by following the directions here.
When the app is launched and you are signed in, you'll be taken to the Network tab. This is the home screen:

On the bottom of the screen, you will see a bar with 5 icons. Tap on the last icon with the gear:

The page will load the Settings tab and look similar to the example below. Towards the bottom of the page under the Account section, you will see an Add mesh extender button. Tap on it.

Next, you will be asked to scan a QR code. Remove your GL.iNet router from its packaging. Turn it over to view the label on the bottom. All GL.iNet units will have a QR code on the bottom of the router. Tap the Scan QR Code on your mobile phone to continue. The camera on your phone should be made available and allow you to quickly scan the QR code on the GL.iNet.

You will next receive a confirmation page that this new router has been added to your account. Tap the Next button to continue.

Remove the power cable from the GL.iNet packaging. It's time to get this new extender set up. The screen will display some instructions for you to follow. If you are unsure of where this new extender will be located at this time, you can plug it into power in the same room as the main router. Once the GL.iNet is plugged into power and you see lights flashing, tab the I see the light button.

Now that the extender is plugged in and is nearby to the main router, it will configure itself to your network. It can take up to 3 minutes for this process to complete. You will see the loading bar inch towards the right as the process completes. Once the extender has been successfully added to your network, you will be presented with a green checkmark.

In the event the extender does not successfully configure using the QR scan, the app will display the option to add your device manually. The MAC Address and Serial number can be found on the QR Code label, to the left of the QR code.

Once successfully configured, the extender will configure itself to your network. It can take up to 3 minutes for this process to complete. You will see the loading bar inch towards the right as the configuration is applied. Once the extender has been successfully added to your network, you will be presented with a green checkmark. Tap the Finish button.

The last step will be to relocate the extender to an area of your home of your choosing. If you need to set up additional extenders, you'll be given the opportunity now by tapping the Add another extender button. If this is the only extender you needed to set up, tap the Finish setup button.

Congratulations! You've successfully added an extender to your network. If you have any questions or need some help, please reach out to our Customer Success team by emailing support@minim.com or by clicking on the chat bubble in the corner of this page.
